Among all the daily outdoor markets in Nice there is one that definitely stands out: the market at Liberation. It is here that the locals buy their fresh products, enjoy the specialties of Nice, meet up with friends on a sunny terrace for a coffee and simply enjoy life.
During this culinary market tour away from the busy old town of Nice, let me introduce you to this lively quarter of Nice where I live. On the menu: Lots of tastings, interesting information about the local life, just about the right amount of history, plenty of anecdotes and pleasant encounters with local people.
Tour Description
For this 3-hour walking tour I can either come and pick you up at your accommodation or we agree on a meeting place. As we stroll through the main and back streets of the Liberation quarter, we will make plenty of stops for the different tastings and explanations. You will learn all about the Niçois specialties like Socca and Pissaladière, but also about some French classics like cheese and wine. You will learn how to recognize an authentic croissant and what is a noisette. But you will also hear about Belle Epoque buildings, why this quarter is called Liberation and what a pine cone train is.
The best will be you come hungry and don’t foresee lunch since there will be plenty of food along the way.
By the way, this food tour is also adapted for vegetarians!
