Highlights of the French Riviera

Nice, Cannes, Monaco … these names sound like music in most people’s ears. They promise Glitz and Glamour, Sun and Sea, Yachts, Casinos and gorgeous landscapes and make everybody dream. Discover the amazing places that have made the French Riviera world-famous.

For your very special tour day, choose any combination of 3 destinations detailed below and enjoy a memorable excursion:

Nice

“Nissa la Bella” as the city was called in the 19th century and is the capital of the Côte d’Azur. Many wealthy tourists from all over Europe settled here during the winter months of the Belle Epoque. Discover the medieval Old Town with its picturesque narrow alleys, its picturesque squares and colourful flower and vegetable market, try some of the local specialties like Socca or Pissaladière and learn everything about this very Italianate city. Drive along the famous Promenade des Anglais and see the Hotel Negresco, stop by the Russian Cathedral and see many more marvellous buildings which bear witness to the luxury of the bygone days.

Monaco

The Principality and the dynasty of the family of Grimaldi. Learn how the little medieval village on the Rock has turned into a financial hub. The Palace, the Casino of Monte Carlo, the Hotel de Paris and the Café de Paris, the yacht harbor and the racetrack of the Grand Prix tell us the history of its unique development.

Note: During the Grand Prix of Monaco (week end of Pentecoast) I do not offer tours to Monaco.

Saint Paul de Vence

The medieval village with its well preserved walls is already visible from far away. In the early 20th century this former military stronghold has become the meeting place of famous artists and is today among the most visited villages in France. In its many picturesque narrow alleys you find art galleries, plenty of handcraft and local specialties.

Eze

The small hill-village located between Nice and Monaco towers over the Mediterranean Sea and offers a great view on the French Riviera. Steep paths, winding alleys and picturesque corners make Eze one of the most beautiful “eagle-nests” of this region. The best view you can get from the Exotic Garden on top of the village (small entrance fee). You will be enchanted by this breath-taking place. However be aware that there are plenty of steps in the village.

Antibes

This charming town on the Sea between Cannes and Nice is mostly known for its wonderful Provencal market that takes place every day except on Mondays, its yacht harbor which is the biggest in Europe, its Picasso museum and its colorful old town streets. From here you will have an extraordinary view on the entire chain of the Sea-Alps. Even though it is very authentic Antibes is not very touristy.

Cannes

From a little fishing-village to the glorious capital of the International Film Festival. If you like to look at beautiful facades, luxurious Hotels, classy Boutiques, expensive yachts and sandy beaches, and if you like to walk along one of Europe’s most famous Sea Promenades, the Croisette and take a photo on the glamourous 24 steps which lead into the Filmfestival Palace, then Cannes is the right place for you.

Note: During the Film Festival in Cannes (second half of May) I do not offer tours to Cannes. Traffic restrictions make it impossible.
