The Eastern Riviera

Enjoy a wonderful tour into the Sea-Alps, the final endings of the European Alps that fall right into the Mediterranean Sea between Nice and Menton forming magnificent bays and offering spectacular views.

Tour Description

The tour begins with a scenic drive along the middle coastal road known as the Moyenne Corniche. We will have some photo stops along the road which will give you an impression of how spectacular our coastline is. The first visit will be to the charming hill-village of Eze. Together we will walk up the narrow alleys that lead to the Exotic Garden on top of the village. You will quickly understand why Eze has become THE highlight of our Riviera. Of course I will explain the history of this amazing village, give you plenty of anecdotes and introduce you to the local people.  I am sure you will enjoy this very special place with its unique medieval atmosphere.

From Eze we will take the upper coastal road (the Grande Corniche) to La Turbie, where we will have a magnificent photo stop. On clear days you will have a view of almost the entire Riviera from Italy to the Esterel mountain range and onto the Principality of Monaco.

We then take the very panoramic and winding road through the mountains to another jewel of the region: St Agnès. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of France and finds itself in a very strategic position high above the coast of Menton. St Agnes is right on the Maginot Line, a vast fortification of the inter-war years right on the Italian/French border. We will enjoy a very local lunch there and then make our way back down to the coast again.

We will head to the Principality of Monaco on the lower coastal road (the Basse Corniche), will do a panoramic drive around the city while I explain the history of this legendary place and you will then enjoy some free time at the famous Casino square for photographs, an ice cream and why not some gambling.

If you prefer, we can also visit the very charming village of Roquebrune or Menton instead of stopping in Monaco.

Special Note: I do not recommend this tour for people who suffer heights (St Agnes is very high). Please know though that every itinerary can be adapted to your special wishes.
